Make Your Plan Change: Medicare Advantage’s Open Enrollment Period Ends March 31

February 09, 2021

Are you unhappy with your Medicare Advantage plan? Did you miss fall’s Annual Enrollment Period? Take advantage of Medicare’s Open Enrollment Period.

Every year from Jan. 1 through March 31, those with a Medicare Advantage plan have the opportunity to either:

  • Switch to a different Medicare Advantage Plan with or without drug coverage.
  • Go back to Original Medicare and, if needed, join a Medicare Prescription Drug Plan.
  • If you make a plan change during this time, your new coverage will begin the first of the month following your enrollment in a new plan.

While many Medicare beneficiaries find the process of comparing plans challenging or have limited confidence when choosing a better plan, there is help available. Because you can switch your Medicare Advantage plan during Open Enrollment, it’s important to understand and be confident in your Medicare coverage options.

For an overview of all your Medicare Advantage plan options, Medicare.gov’s Medicare Plan Finder can help you find, compare, and enroll in a new Medicare Advantage plan or a Medicare drug plan in your area.
