Hartford HealthCare Senior Services honors outstanding employees

CENTRAL CONNECTICUT – Hartford HealthCare Senior Services honored employees of its seven senior care communities at the Second Annual Longevity and Clarence J. Silvia Celebration held Nov. 11 at Hawk’s Landing Country Club in Southington. Seven people received the 2015 Clarence J. Silvia Leadership Award and approximately 100 staffers were recognized for their service from five to 35 years.
Longevity award recipients were congratulated by the executive director of the community where they work. The longest-serving Hartford HealthCare Senior Services employees were: 35 years - Yvonne Porter, Jefferson House in Newington, and Deborah Mazza, Arbor Rose in New Britain; and 30 years – William Gurekovich, Jefferson House.
The Clarence J. Silvia Leadership Awards acknowledge outstanding employees of Hartford HealthCare Senior Services communities who are exemplary in their work. Winners were selected based on numerous characteristics including strong work ethic; firm belief in the mission of the organization and serving seniors; leadership qualities; awareness of the importance of resident-centered care; and sincerity and authenticity in their interactions.
Leadership awards were presented to: Kristen Diminno, Jefferson House; Mary Schneider, Mulberry Gardens of Southington; Patricia Agosto, Cedar Mountain Commons; Greg Sieron, Jerome Home; Julie Wendt, Southington Care Center; Peggy Phillips, Arbor Rose; and Gina Moccio, The Orchards at Southington.
In addition, Julie Norko, Hartford HealthCare Senior Services director of development, received the Trish Walden Living the Legacy Award.
“The 111 longevity and leadership award recipients honored are our leaders, both formal and informal. They lead by example, they lead with their knowledge and experience, and they lead with their passion and compassion for our seniors,” said Lisa Connolly, NHA, MS, vice president, Hartford HealthCare Community Network. “Their dedication to our residents and loyalty to our organization are the driving force behind our reputation for outstanding care and service. I am grateful for their contributions.”
