'Melody' inspires Jefferson House residents to create their own music

Jefferson House, located at 1 John H. Stewart Drive in Newington, recently purchased “Melody” through the generosity of two families whose loved ones had positive experiences with recreation and music therapy.

Music therapist Laura Bunker, MA, MT-BC, demonstrated the instrument which resembles a xylophone and sounds like chimes. Residents do not have to know how to play an instrument and many have begun to experiment with creating their own music. “Melody” is located in the courtyard at Jefferson House, a department of Hartford Hospital, which offers short-term/outpatient rehabilitation, skilled nursing and palliative care. jeffersonhouse.org
